SELF DISCOVERY IS WHY WE'RE HEREI've been told by others throughout my life that one of my greatest
abilities is understanding others and having great empathy for what they're going through. This is probably true
because of my own continuous journey of Self-Improvement, Self-Discovery and Self-Realization that has been with
me for as long as I can remember.
When you embace this way of life or this way of thinking, your life is an unending
series of experiences. And these experiences range from the bottom of the barrel to the top of the mountain. All you have
to do is be able to stay on the horse without falling off....if you can. However, if you do fall off, just get back on again.
When people are open to hearing about their own Self-Discovery, I simply say, there are many roads to Self-Discovery.
The road you choose is totally up to you. Some roads get you there by the horse and buggy method and others get you there
at the speed of light. It's just how fast you catch on and what you're willing to do to reach your highest inner potential
Embracing this journey can be a huge challenge for many people, but it is truly one of the greatest journeys you
can take.
PATHS TO SELF DISCOVERY
Some people like to
read all the self help books. It's a start, but, you can read self help books until you fall off the
rockin' chair, because there are millions of them. Of course, by then, you've discovered that you got a whole lot
of information that you haven't put into practice yet!
Some people like to attend all the self help
seminars. Those are really cool! But at some point, you have to put some of this information into action, and besides,
these are getting really expensive!
Some people actually believe they want to go to the Himalayas
or some remote island and 'deprive themselves' of bodily comfort (like enlightened masters), except if they actually
'do it', they realize 'what in the hell were they thinking?'
Some people believe they'll
reach this potential by adopting a particular religious belief. I'm sure that some people have actually re-discovered
themselves this way, in every religion known to man. There truly are saints and sages of all religions. There's
even saints and sages who don't adopt what we know as 'traditional' religious beliefs. There's even saints
and sages that live without homes and shelter on our cities' streets, sad to say. And even then, there's
a few more steps to go.
In the 60's, some people believed they could reach Self-Discovery through 'a drug
experience', and I'm sure some found out pretty quickly that this kind of immediate 'self-discovery' could
be down right frightening, or even fatal...where their minds and bodies wanted to pass over to the other side to discover
who they really were. I'd suggest not trying this method if you have no idea who you are, in the first place. And no,
you're not your job, or your car, or your things!
Many of those who survived the 'drug experiences',
and some of those who never had the 'drug experiences', continued to look further, toward even more deeper
inner experiences. These were the people who already read the self-help books, went through successess and failures, went
on 'a trip or two', went through various religious experiences, or knew that there was still something missing that
they hadn't explored.
Even people who had surface religious experiences believed that they hadn't tapped
the inner core of Self-Discovery and a real 'knowing' of the Self that lies within.
After years
of introspection, learning, and experiences, the speed of light Self-Discovers came upon the 'supreme inner joys of meditation'.
And went "Wow! Where have you been all my life?"
Some explanations of Meditation are where a person
gets into a state of concentration that allows them to focus their efforts on their thoughts or on their awareness
(without thoughts).
Enlightened gurus or those who practice meditation regularly may say that meditation is a
way of reuniting with reality or seeking God from within. The enlightened ones say, this is how"we actually reach
what we call 'bliss', and true realization of the self, and our connection to God and the universe". Once you
reach this state, there is no need to ask anyone else what your universal connection is. Pretty heavy, huh?
So,
whatever you choose to do on your own personal journey, don't delay! If you're tired of being sick, tired of unhappiness,
tired of the same oh, day in and day out routine, and tired of the condition of the world we live in, ask yourself, "Have
I tried meditation, yet?" And in most cases, I think I already know the answer to that one.
One of the
greatest sources for learning about meditation is Self-Relization Fellowship. It's a worldwide organization, founded by
Paramahansa Yogananda. They've been teaching it for years. It's simple, and the lessons are inexpensive and they will
come directly to your house each week. You can go to www.selfrealizationfellowship.org and read about it for yourself. And when you're ready for the 'speed of light' way to self-discovery,
you'll have it right at the tip of your fingertips, right at the click of your mouse, and right at the tip of your
heart, where it has always been.
